Obituary

Keith Mulcrone of Van Hornesville, NY passed away peacefully at Mohawk Valley Health Center on December 13, 2010, with his wife at his side. Keith was born in Oldham, England in 1938 to Marjorie and John Mulcrone. He was educated at Manchester Grammar School, Manchester, England and later joined the Royal Marines, 920 Commando Squadron, and earned the rank of 2nd Lieutenant. After active service, he was in the Reserves. His move to the United States came through his success as a mail order marketer for Fingerhut Corporation headquartered in Minnetonka, Minnesota. In the years that ensued, Keith was hired to turn around or build business for the American Management Association in NYC, Readicut Wool Company in Horbury, England and direct marketing agencies in NYC and Boston. In 1988 Keith launched Edlund Mulcrone Inc., a strategic marketing firm, with Campbell Edlund in Boston, MA. He proudly became a US citizen in November 1983. Keith was predeceased by his parents, Marjorie and John Mulcrone of Oldham, England and his sister, Jean Sinke, and brother-in-law, Marinus Sinke, of Javea, Spain. Keith leaves behind his wife, Carol, of Van Hornesville, NY; a son and daughterin-law, Matthew and Amy Mulcrone, and grandchildren Sam and Molly of Ashburton, England; a daughter and son-in-law, Sarah Jane and Nicholas Wood of Boston, Massachusetts; several nieces and nephews, and their children. The family wishes to thank all of the dedicated private caregivers and Hospice and Palliative Care, who made it possible for Keith to spend the last 3 years at home. We also thank the nurses and aides on the 3rd floor at Mohawk Valley Health Center for their loving care over the past two months. And we give special thanks to Carla Doolen and Pamela Nortz for their love and devotion. They are family. Private arrangements are under the care of Fenner Funeral Home in Herkimer, NY. A Celebration of Life service will be held at the Van Hornesville United Methodist Church at a later date. In lieu of flowers, please consider contributions to Hospice & Palliative Care, 4277 Middle Settlement Road, New Hartford, NY 13413, the Van Hornesville United Methodist Church, PO Box 111, Van Hornesville, NY 13475 or a charity of your choice.
