Kelley R. ChadwickRICHFIELD SPRINGS-Kelley R. Chadwick,89, of the West Lake Road at Canadarago Lake, died Tuesday August 29, 2000at Bassett Hospital in Cooperstown, N.Y..Born in Washington, D.C. April 13, 1911, he was the third child of Dr. DeWitt C.and Alicia Alleyn Rothwell PechellChadwick. A graduate of Mercersburg Academy,he attended Haverford College and was graduated from the Colorado School ofMines as a Metallurgical Engineer. He married Helen M. Loughrey on Aug.7, 1937in Merchantville, N.J. They celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary in 1997.Mrs. Chadwick died Sept. 15, 1998.Mr. Chadwick was employed by the Parlette Corp in Me-tuchen, N.J. and then bythe U.S. Bureau of Mines in Salt Lake City, Utah. During W.W.II, he was employedby the DuPont Corp. at Chicago, Ill. He worked for DuPont at Toledo, Ohio andThe Rem-ington Arms Co., Ilion. He retired from the Remington Arms Corp in 1976but continued to work as a consultant for the DuPont Corp., Wilmington, Del. formany years.He was well known as a sportsman, hunter, fisherman and for his skills in bothbenchrest and trap shooting. He was a member of the Richfield Springs Rod andGun Club and the Unadilla Rod and Gun Club. He was an early member of theCanadarago Lake Association.Mr. and Mrs. Chadwick were bridge players and golfersand members for many yearsof the Otsego Golf Club and theCedar Lakes Golf club.Mr. Chadwick is survived by his daughter Leigh and her husband Frank C. Eckmairof Gilbertsville; daughter Susan Robinson of Grand Island, N.Y.; daughterPatricia and husband Donald Doersch of Seattle, Wash.; son Dr. Thomas K.Chadwick of Carver, Mass., daughter-in-law Mary O. Chadwick of RichfieldSprings,N.Y.; grandchildren, Antoni F. Eckmair, Rochester, NY; Kelley M. Eckmair,Esq., Unadilla, NY, Stephanie E. Middleton of Hingham,Mass., John G. Robinson of Tenn., Thomas K. Robinson of Buffalo, NY, Trevor K.Chadwick of Richfield Springs, N.Y. Andrea M. Chadwick of Cazenovia, NY andseven great-grandchildren, step-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.In addition to his wife, he was predeceased by son Joseph J. Chadwick, hissister Mary Chadwick Chisholm of Chatham, Mass. and brother Dr. Leigh C.Chadwick of Blue Hills, Maine.At Mr. Chadwick's request, there will be no calling hours. Services will beprivate and at the convenience of the family.In lieu of flowers, it is suggested that gifts be made in Mr. Chadwick's memoryto Richfield Springs Volunteer Fire Dept. Emergency Squad.
