Obituary

HERKIMER - Kenneth J. Breese, 74, of McKennon Road, passed away Thursday morning, Aug. 18, 2005, in Mary Imogene Bassett Hospital, Cooperstown. He was born Aug. 2, 1931, in Herkimer, son of the late Charles T. and Dorothy Leona Edick Breese. A lifelong Herkimer resident, he was a graduate of Herkimer High School. An honorably discharged U.S. Army veteran, he served during the Korean War, being stationed in Germany. Mr. Breese had first worked for Univac. In 1977, he went to work as a security officer at Marcy Psychiatric Center, retiring in 1994.He was a member of the American Legion Post 0001 in Albany. He had a strong love for the outdoors and nature; his leisure time was spent hunting and fishing. His hobby was restoring old cars, a true talent for which many people knew him. Ken was a friend to many and will never be forgotten.Surviving him are a brother, Robert C. Breese of Little Falls; one sister, Carol Lowe of Harleysville, Pa., and five nephews.Funeral service will take place on Monday at 11 a.m. in Fenner Funeral Home Inc., 115 Court St., Herkimer. The Rev. Patricia Lawrence, pastor of the First Baptist Church, Herkimer, will officiate. Mr. Breese will be laid to rest with military honors in Mohawk Cemetery.His family will be present in the funeral home to receive relatives and friends on Sunday evening from 7-9 p.m.Expressions of sympathy may be made to the American Leukemia Society. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
