Obituary

HERKIMER - Kenneth M. Krouse, age 64, of Steuben Street passed away on Sunday morning February 5, 2006 in his home after a courageous battle with cancer. He had the comfort of his loving family was at his side. He was born on March 29, 1941, in Ilion, son of the late Arthur and Alice Levenbereger Krouse. A lifelong Herkimer resident, he was educated in Herkimer schools. On March 10, 1964, he married the former Nancy L. Ingerham in the First United Methodist Church Herkimer. For 35 years Ken was employed as an auto body technician for Skinner Ford Dealership in Herkimer, retiring in 2004. He was a member of Michael S. Pliseck VFW Post, Herkimer, and the Herkimer Polish Club. He had a strong belief in God and was of the Methodist faith. In his leisure time he enjoyed watching wrestling on television and following his favorite baseball team, the New York Yankees. He will always be remembered as a caring, gentle man who cherished his family, especially his grandchildren. Ken was a friend to many and will never be forgotten. Surviving are his beloved wife of 39 years, Nancy; two daughters, Nancy and her husband James Hilts and Sara Krouse, all of Herkimer; two sons, Patrick and his wife Allyson Ingerham and David Krouse, all of Herkimer; a sister, Donna and her husband Thomas Graham of Mohawk; two brothers, Richard Dicky Krouse and his wife Barbara of Lillian, Ala., David Krouse and wife Brenda of Cedarville; nine grandchildren, including a special granddaughter, Crystal Krouse of Herkimer; several nieces, nephews and cousins. Besides his parents, two brothers, Robert and Ronald Krouse, preceded him in death. Funeral service will be on Wednesday at 11 a.m. in Fenner Funeral Home Inc., 115 Court St., Herkimer. The Rev. Patti Lawrence, pastor of the First Baptist Church, Herkimer, will officiate. Interment will follow in Oak Hill Cemetery. The family will present in the funeral home to receive relatives and friends on Tuesday from 4 until 7 p.m. Memorial donations may be made to Hospice Inc. The family wishes to express sincere appreciation to Ken's daughter-in-law, Allyson, for all her devoted care and compassion shown during his illness.
