RICHFIELD SPRINGS - Kurt W. Lenhard, age 82, formerly of McKoons Road, passed away peacefully on Thursday, October 9, 2014 at Valley Health Services, Herkimer. He was born on January 23, 1932 in Bronx, son of the late Vincent and Suzanna Geiger Lenhard. At an early age his family moved to Richfield Springs. He graduated from Richfield Springs, High School. On June 22, 1951, he entered the US Air Force serving in the Korean War. He was honorably discharged on October 1, 1954. On September 15, 1956 he was united in marriage to the former Mary Hoffman. They shared a loving and devoted union of 36 years until her passing on December 18, 1992. For many years he was employed at Remington Arms, retiring in 1994. Kurt found much contentment outdoors especially hunting. He also enjoyed watching NACAR racing and basketball. However his family was the main focus in his life. To all who knew him he was a down to earth man with a caring heart. Any conversation with him was straight forward and to the point, yet you always felt a warmth and friendship when you were with him. He will be missed by many especially his daughter, cherished granddaughter and great-grandson. Surviving are his daughter, Sharon Wickline and her husband, Raymond of Princeton W. Virginia, a granddaughter Rebecca Stiles and her husband Chris, a great-grandson, Max Stiles all of Albany. Besides his parents and wife Mary, he was preceded in death by his son James Kurt Lenhard on February 26, 2003. Funeral service will be on Monday, at 11:30 am in J. Seaton McGrath Funeral Home, 40 West James Street, Richfield Springs. The Reverend Benard Osei Ampong, pastor of St. Joseph the Worker Catholic Church, Richfield Springs will officiate. Interment with military honors will follow in St. Joseph's Cemetery, Richfield Springs. The family will be present in the funeral home on Monday from 9:30 until the time of the funeral at 11:30 am Expressions of sympathy may be made with memorial donations to the American Lung Association.
