RICHFIELD SPRINGS-Laura Frances Pierson, age 96, of Canadarago Street, entered into eternal rest on Wednesday morning April 21, 2004 in her home. She had the comfort of her loving family at her side. She was born on December 27, 1907, in Gloversville, daughter of the late Walter and Christina Rich Congdon. Laura was raised and educated in Gloversville, Johnstown and Walton. On October 16, 1931 she married Gordon D. Pierson in the First Presbyterian Church Richfield Springs. Mr. Pierson passed away on July 18, 1962. Laura enjoyed music and played the piano. During the late 1940s and 1950s she preformed with various bands in the Richfield Springs area. She was happiest when she was surrounded by her many friends and family especially her grandchildren and great grand children. She will be truly missed. Surviving are two sons, Gordon Pierson, Duane and his wife Joan Pierson all of Richfield Springs, two daughters, Lois Jones of Fredonia, Marilyn and her husband Gregory Hext of Richfield Springs, eleven grandchildren, Laurie Hext of Richfield Springs, Duane Pierson, Deanne Steinman, Jessica Hodge, Jerred Pierson all of Groton, CT, Michael Pierson of Lawton, OK, Matthew Pierson of Dallas, TX, Janiea Hill of Richfield Springs, Keith Jones of Jamestown, David Jones of Evansville, IN, Linda Cox of Utica, twenty-one great grandchildren, several nieces, nephews and one cousin. Besides her parents and husband Gordon, a brother Harold Congdon, a twin sister Lilah McManus and son-in-law, David Jones, preceded her in death. Funeral service will be on Saturday at 2:00 pm in J. Seaton McGrath Funeral Home, 40 West James Street, Richfield Springs. The Reverend Alan Miller, Pastor of the Richfield Springs Bible Church will officiate. Mrs. Pierson will be laid to rest in Lakeview Cemetery. The family will be present in the funeral home to receive relatives and friends on Saturday from 12:00 noon until 2:00 pm.
