RICHFIELD SPRINGS-Laurence Arthur Lincourt age 96 passed away peacefully on Monday afternoon with his daughter by his side, August 27, 2018 at the Waterville Residential Care Center in Waterville. Laurence was born on April 25, 1922 in Herkimer, son of the late Dolphus and Leona Gladys Bronson Lincourt. He was raised and educated in Saint Francis de Sales School in Herkimer and at Allens Lake one room school house before going on to Richfield Springs High School and graduating with the class of 1939. On June 27, 1942 he was united in marriage to the former Joyce Catherine Davis in Saint Josephs RC Church, Richfield Springs. They shared a loving and devoted union of seventy-two years until her passing in 2014.
On November 13, 1942 he answered the call of his country, joining the US Army. He proudly served in the medical field at the Army and Navy General Hospital in Hot Springs, Arkansasuntil February 22, 1946 attaining the rank of Sargent. Upon his return to Richfield Springs he was employed at Remington Arms Company in Ilion and later a long time employee of UNIVAC and Mohawk Data Sciences in Herkimer. Larry, as he was known, had a strong belief in God and was an activemember and trustee for many years of Saint Joseph RC Church in Richfield Springs. To all who knew him, he was a very community oriented gentleman. Larry had been an active participant with Cub Scouts, Boy Scouts and Explorers, was a long time member of the Hugick, Purcell Shepard American Legion Post # 616 in Richfield Springs and the Richfield Springs Volunteer Fire Department. He served on the Richfield Springs Emergency Squad for 35 years.
Larry was an avid hunter and outdoorsman. He loved hiking the many hills around Richfield Springs and the Hinkley Lake, NY area. Larry was a jack of many trades and was one of those individuals who would repair something, even manufacturing a part from scratch, rather than throw it away if it was still good. As a young parent he built his family a 3 bedroom camp near Hinkley Lake which was enjoyed for many decades. Larry was always happy to help others with his skills. Larry had many friends and was known for his easy laugh and his sense of humor. At the age of 89 he published his memoirs titled, Love is the Key. He was a friend to many and will be dearly missed.
He is survived by his loving children, Kathleen Kraus and husband Roger of Clinton, Wayne Lincourt and wife Laura of Durango, CO, Laurence Lincourt Jr. of Lawton, OK, Alan Lincourt and partner Margaret Kroll of Richfield Springs and Barbara Thompson and husband Brett of Richfield Springs, Douglas Kraus and wife Suzanne, Patricia Carter and husband Christopher, Adam Lincourt and wife Nina, Heather Lincourt, Mathew Thompson and wife Lesley, Christy Gilbert and husband Justin, two step-great grandchildren, Lindsay Ames and husband Noel, Sarah Paul and husband Josh, three great-grandchildren, Daniel and Lauren Kraus and Cora Gilbert, five great-grandchildren, Rylee and Ava Langhinrich, Janna and Jaxton Paul and Morgan Ames, sister-in-law, Stella (Ubner) Lincourt, brother, Carlton D. Lincourt and wife Marlene (Emhof), sister-in-law, Mary Jeanne Davis, two brothers-in-law, John Davis and wife Susan and Kerry Davis. Besides his parents and wife Joyce he was preceded in death by two brothers, Vincent I. Lincourt and wife Roberta (Davis), Harold Lincourt and a niece, Terry (Lincourt) Howe.
Calling hours for Larry Lincourt will be on Wednesday morningfrom 9:00 am until 11:00 am in J. Seaton McGrath Funeral Home, 40 West James Street; Richfield Springs. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in Saint Joseph the Worker RC Church, Richfield Springs at 11:30 am. Father SilvasterSarihaddula, pastor will officiate. Interment with military honors will follow in Saint Josephs Cemetery, Richfield Springs. The Lincourt family wishes to extend their deep appreciation to the staff at Waterville Residential Care Center for the wonderful care that was given to Laurence during his illness. Expressions of sympathy may be made with memorial donations to Richfield Springs Volunteer Fire Department,Emergency Squad or Saint Joseph the Worker RC Church memorial fund. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
