STAMFORD Laverne Gerald Wagner Buck, age 89, passed away peacefully on Monday, July 31, 2017 in Faxton St. Lukes Medical Center, New Hartford. He was born on April 8, 1928 in Butternuts, a son of the late Clark and Florence Secor Wagner. He was raised and educated in South New Berlin. For many years he worked as a dairy farmer for Prospect Farms in Stamford. He retired in 1995. He enjoyed the outdoors, especially fishing, trapping and hunting. He also had an appreciation for old classic cars. Buck was a man of conviction. He spoke his mind, any conversation with him was straight to the point yet there was a warm sense that he would always be there when you needed him. He will be sadly missed by his family and friends. Surviving are his wife Bertha Russell Wagner of Stamford and more recently Herkimer, four sons, Gerry Wagner of IL, Robert Wagner of Apex, NC, Timmy Wagner of Greene, and Bruce Wagner, three daughters Connie Wagner of Nineveh, Tina Engle of Whitney Point, Chris Acker and her husband Timothy of Herkimer, with whom he and his wife have resided for the past seven months, grandchildren Colin and Logan Acker of Herkimer, Ryan Wagner of Ashland, MA and Corinne Wagner of Rochester, along with several other grandchildren and great-grandchildren, a brother Clark Wagner of Conway, SC, many nieces, nephews and cousins. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers and three sisters, Kenneth, Jules, Irma, Ona, and Alda. Calling hours will be on Thursday evening from 6:00 8:00 p.m. at Fenner Funeral Home, Inc., 115 Court Street, Herkimer. Interment will be on Friday, August 4th at 2:00 p.m. in Riverside Cemetery, Route 8, South New Berlin.
