Obituary

JORDANVILLE-Leland Daniel Collins, age 92, passed away on Wednesday November 30, 2016, in Ocala, FL. He was born on October 19, 1924, in Little Falls, one of eleven children born to Harold L. Sr. and Hattie Mae Hoffman Collins. A lifelong area resident he was a graduate of VanHornesville Central School, class of 1944. He worked the family dairy farm on the Chyle in Richfield Springs. On November 8, 1958, he married Elizabeth Hazel Seamon. Together they ran their family farm in Jordanville and raised four children. Family loyalty and hard work were values which were all a part of Lees upbringing that he carried through his life and instilled in his children. He will be remembered for his work ethic, his laugh, his smile, his funny stories, the twinkle in his eye and the incredible impact he had on so many. Lee was a family man who loved his siblings. They were referred to as the Magnificent Eleven. He is survived by his wife of fifty-eight years, Liz, a son, Daniel Collins and his wife Cathy of Jordanville, three daughter, Roxanne Collins and her companion William Stalnaker of Ocala, FL, Sandy Augstein-Collins and wife Joanne of Niskayuna,) and Dena Collins and companion Mike Tylee of Canajoharie, a brother, Robert Collins and his wife Brittie, three sisters, Marion Fleckenstein, Dorothea Chace, Ella Light and her husband Alfred, grandchildren, Michael Collins and companion Alexandra Cmar, Leland Collins III and his wife Devon Birek-Collins, Jennifer Maxwell and husband Matthew, Martin Collins, Sarah Puskarenko, Seth Puskarenko, Lakota Bentley, Kiley and Teagan Augstein-Collins, great-grandson Paul Martin Collins, several nieces, nephews and cousins and many friends. Beside his parents he was preceded in death by three brothers, Chester, Harold Jr., and James Collins, three sisters, Kathleen Suits, Cecelia Davey and Vicky Ingles. Calling hours for Mr. Collins will be on Tuesday from 4:00 7:00 p.m. in J. Seaton McGrath Funeral Home, 40 West James Street, Richfield Springs. Funeral service will be on Wednesday at 11:00 am in the funeral home with Reverend Ann Zimmerman, pastor of Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, Herkimer, Interment will follow in Highland Rural Cemetery, Jordanville.
