HERKIMER-Lena M. Stadler age 89 passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday February 11, 2014 in Little Falls Hospital. She was born on August 24, 1924 in Herkimer, daughter of the late Patsy and Frances Rose Dee Mallozzi. A lifelong Herkimer resident she was a graduate of Herkimer High School. She furthered her education, graduating from the Utica School of Commerce. On June 6, 1964 she was united in marriage with Brayton Stadler in the First United Methodist Church Herkimer, the Reverend Fred Cotnam officiated. They shared a loving and devoted union of thirty-seven years until his passing on March 23, 2002. Lena worked as a Nursing Technician at Ilion General Hospital. She retired in 1988 after thirty one years of loyal service. Mrs. Stadler had a strong faith in God and was a lifelong member of the First United Methodist Church Herkimer/Little Falls where she had served on many committees as well as a being a church Trustee. She was also a member of Evening Star Valley Chapter # 82 Order of the Eastern Star and the Herkimer Garden Club. To all who knew her, she was a caring, giving and helpful lady. She enjoyed doing for others while looking for nothing in return. Lena took great pride in her home and beautiful flower gardens. Any conversation with her was straight and to the point but you always felt a warmth and friendship whenever you were with her. She will be truly missed. Surviving are a niece Carol Pryor and her husband Timothy, several cousins and dear friends Jean and Duane Aney. Besides her parents and husband Brayton she was preceded in death by sister, Jenny Costello and a brother Joseph Mallozzi. A Celebration of Life for Mrs. Stadler will be held on Sunday February 23rd at 2:00 pm in the First United Methodist Church Herkimer/Little Falls with the Reverend Janet Gleason officiating. At Lenas request interment in Oak Hill Cemetery will be private.
