Obituary

EAST HERKIMER - E. Lillian Cristman, age 81, of West Downey Avenue , Herkimer, passed away peacefully on Wednesday morning, November 15, 2006 in her home. She had the comfort of her loving family at her side. She was born on September 12, 1925 in Herkimer, daughter of the late Frank and Edith Johnson Casler. A lifelong Herkimer resident, she was a graduate of Herkimer High School with the class of "1943". On February 9, 1946 she was united in marriage with James L. Cristman in the Herkimer Reformed Church. Mr. Cristman died on February 3, 1993. Lillian had first worked for the W.T. Grant Store in Herkimer and later went to work at Herkimer Central School , retiring in 1987. Mrs. Cristman was a member of the First United Methodist Church Herkimer/Little Falls. She was a former member of the East Herkimer Home Bureau and the East Herkimer Elementary School Parent Teachers Association. In her leisure time she enjoyed sewing, knitting, and attending family gatherings. Surviving are three daughters and their husbands, Gail and Robert Bracken, Diane and Donald Lamphear, all of Ilion; Jamie and Neal Garza of Herkimer, two sisters Mary Woodrick of Herkimer and Helen Smith of Newport, six grandchildren, Lynn Cox and her husband Roger of Louisville, KY, Robert Bracken and his wife Molly of Niskayuna, Kristen Lamphear of Central Square and her friend Shawn Wood, Alyson Lamphear and her fiancee' Walton Yoder of Highland Lake, SPC Ryan C. Garza US Army in Iraq, Cory Garza of Herkimer, five great grandchildren Jacob, Aidan, and Kelsey Cox, Erin and Shane Bracken and three nieces and their families. Besides her parents and husband Jim, she was preceded in death by a granddaughter Lesli Paige Garza in 1982. Funeral service will be on Saturday at 11:00 am in Fenner Funeral Home, Inc., 115 Court Street, Herkimer. The Reverend Wrightson Tongue, Pastor of the First United Methodist Church Herkimer/Little Falls will officiate. Interment will follow in Oak Hill Cemetery . The family will be present in the funeral home to receive relatives and friends on Friday from 4:00 until 7:00 pm. Expressions of sympathy may be made with memorial donations to the First United Methodist Church Herkimer/Little Falls, the East Herkimer Volunteer Fire Department or Hospice and Palliative Care, New Hartford. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
