HERKIMER-Linda A. Dychko age 71 of Steuben Road, passed away on Tuesday, December 16, 2014 in Saint Elizabeth's Medical Center, Utica. She had the support and comfort of her loving family at her side. She was born on July 15, 1943 in Herkimer, daughter of the late Nelson and Lucille Flint Klossner. A lifelong Herkimer resident she graduated from Herkimer High School, class of 1961 where she was scholastically eighth in her graduating class. On November 25, 1961 she was united in marriage with Walter C. Dychko in the First United Methodist Church, Herkimer with the Reverend Fred Cotnam officiating. They shared a union of forty-six years until his passing on July 31, 2008. Linda first worked as a cashier for the A&P Store in Herkimer, next as a Legal Secretary for attorney Arthur Fagan. She then left the work field to raise her family. She returned to work in 1998 as a cleaner at the Herkimer Elementary School retiring in 2005 after six years of dedicated service. Mrs. Dychko had a strong sense of community, for many years she was a member of the United Methodist Women, taught Sunday school and vacation bible school where she delighted teaching crafts to the youngsters, she was active in Girl Scouting where she had worked as troop leader and was also a member of the Home Bureau Group. To all who knew her they will never forget a caring, helpful and loving person whose family was always first and foremost. She especially enjoyed sharing the holidays with her family. She enjoyed her camp and the time she spent with her family on Hinckley Lake, especially at the beach. One of her biggest joys was to watch her grandchildren participate in their various activities. She will be greatly missed by her many friends, family and cherished grandchildren. Surviving are two daughters and their husbands, Beverly and Scott Stowell of Malta, Melody and Brett Couchman of Herkimer, two grandchildren, Parker Morris and Melia Couchman, a special aunt Jerrie and her husband Donald Dunn of Mohawk. Calling hours for Mrs. Dychko will be on Saturday from1:00 until 3:00 pm in Fenner Funeral Home, Inc., 115 Court Street; Herkimer. A funeral service will follow in the funeral home at 3:00 pm with Pastor Sam Luce of the Redeemer Church, Utica officiating. Interment will take place later next spring in Mountain View Memorial Gardens, town of Little Falls. Linda had a special love for her pets and had requested that memorial donations be made to the Herkimer County Humane Society. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
