HERKIMER-Lisbeth Steinbichl age 97 passed away peacefully on Saturday morning August 19, 2017 in Little Falls Hospital. She was born on April 12, 1920 in Wienhausen, Germany, daughter of the late Wilhelm and Marie Meldau Wiedenroth. Lisbeth was raised and received her education in Welkenbach, Germany. On May 6, 1944 she was united in marriage to Hans Steinbichl in Wienhausen, Germany. She with her family came to this country from Welkenbach in 1956, settling in Herkimer. Her devoted husband Hans preceded her in death after forty-seven years on November 9, 1991. For many years she worked as a dressmaker for Gordon Clothing Manufacture in Mohawk and later as a waitress in the Rainbow Diner in Herkimer. Mrs. Steinbichl had a strong faith in God and was the oldest member of Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, Herkimer. She was a member of the German Menachor. Lisbeth will always be remembered as a kind, caring and loving lady with an unforgettable smile. For many years she was affectionately known as the Bike Lady. Lisbeth was the strength that held her family together in good times and bad. She will be sadly missed. Surviving are three daughters, Renate Goss and her husband Elbert of Rochester, Sonja Brewczynski of Herkimer and Sandy Mergenthaler Climek of Stittsville, seven grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and her best friend since 1956, Rosie Naegele. Besides her parents and husband Hans she was predeceased by her daughter, Silvia Kellner on September 15, 2013. Calling hours for Mrs. Steinbichl will be on Tuesday from 4:00 to 7:00 pm in Fenner Funeral Home, Inc., 115 Court Street; Herkimer. Funeral service will take place on Wednesday at 1:00 pm in Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, Herkimer. The Reverend Ann Zimmerman, Pastor will officiate. Interment will follow in Oak Hill Cemetery. Expressions of sympathy may be made with memorial donations to Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church.
