MENANDS-Lois Pickens Ford, age 73, of Brookside Avenue, passed away unexpectedly on Monday morning April 13, 2015, in Albany Memorial Hospital. She had the comfort of her loving family by her side. She was born on December 2, 1941, in Ilion, daughter of the late Richard A. and Elizabeth B. Livingston Pickens. Lois was raised in Herkimer and was a graduate of Herkimer High School. On September 23, 1960 she was united in marriage with Marvin C. Ford in the First United Methodist Church, Herkimer. They shared a devoted union of thirty-four years until Mr. Ford preceded her in death on October 9, 1994. For twenty years, Lois worked as a packager for Friendly Toy Party in Albany. She retired in 1986. In her leisure time she enjoyed playing bingo and spending time with her cherished grandchildren and great grandchildren. They were everything in the world to her. To those who knew her she was a kind, caring and generous lady who enjoyed doing for others. She will be truly missed. Surviving her are a son, Marvin C. Ford II and his wife Doreen of Albany, four daughters, Jean Brewer and her husband Dana of Mohawk, Mary Ford of Menands, Linda Reina and her husband Chris of Mohawk, Lori Hitchcock and her husband, John of Colonie, a sister-in-law, Carol Pickens of Ludlow, MA, eleven grandchildren, nine great grandchildren, several nieces, nephews and cousins. Besides her parents and husband Marvin she was predeceased by two brothers, Richard and James Pickens. Calling hours for Mrs. Ford will be on Saturday from 2:00 until 4:00 pm in Fenner Funeral Home, Inc., 115 Court Street; Herkimer. A funeral service will follow immediately after at 4:00 pm. The Reverend Janet Gleason, pastor of the First United Methodist Church Herkimer/Little Falls officiating. Interment in Mountain View Memorial Gardens will take place later this spring at a time to be announced.
