HERKIMER Loretta A. Riesel, age 69, formerly of Gray Street, passed away on Saturday, November 23, 2002, with the comfort of her loving family at her side in the Oneida Extended Care Facility, Oneida.
She was born on August 5, 1933, in Herkimer daughter of the late Floyd and Doris Boudry Ford. A lifelong Herkimer resident she was educated in Herkimer Schools. On March 7, 1955, she married David H. Riesel in Frankfort. A loving and devoted union of thirty-seven years until his passing on April 20, 1992.
For fifteen years Loretta worked for the Duofold Company, retiring in 1981. She was of the Methodist faith. She was a member of the Women of the Moose. She also loved bowling in the Senior Region Womens Bowling Tournament.
She was happiest when she was surrounded by her many friends and family especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Loretta will always be remember as a loving, caring and hopeful person. She will be greatly missed.
Surviving are five children, John Bala of Ilion, Wanda Loefler and her husband Robert of Ilion, Susan Betz and her husband William of Farmingville, David Riesel Jr. and his wife Lori of East Setauket, Terry Riesel and his wife Laura of Liverpool, brothers and sisters, Alma Hysack of Herkimer, Viola Church and her husband Robert of Mohawk, Charles Ford of Ohio, NY, David Ford and his wife Gloria of Herkimer, Gary Ford of Ilion, Patricia Burleigh of Rome, Doreen Lindsey and her husband Ron of Newport, seven grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Funeral service will be on Tuesday at 9:30 a.m. in Fenner Funeral Home Inc., 115 Court Street, Herkimer. The Reverend Wrightson Tongue, pastor of the First United Methodist Church of Herkimer and Little Falls will officiate. Following the funeral service, Mrs. Riesel will be laid to rest in Oak Hill Cemetery.
The family will be present to receive relatives and friends in the funeral home on Monday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m.
Memorial donations may be made to the Muscular Dystrophy Association. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
