HERKIMER - Lorraine Ranee Walsh, 82, of West German Street, passed away Saturday evening, March 4, 2006, in Valley Health Services Inc.
She was born Aug. 5, 1923, in Brooklyn, daughter of the late William and Florence Neubert Elhers. Lorraine was raised in Maspeth, Queens, and was a graduate of Grover Cleveland High School. On May 13, 1944, she married Frank Walsh in St. Stanislaus Church in Maspeth, a loving and devoted union of 41 years until his passing on March 20, 1986. In 1974, they moved to Kingston, where Mrs. Walsh worked as a clerical worker and cashier for Kingston Hospital, retiring in 1986. She has resided in Herkimer since December of 1998. Mrs. Walsh had a strong belief in God and was a parishioner of St. Peter's Church in Kingston. In her leisure time she enjoyed bowling and bowled with various bowling leagues throughout the Kingston area. All who knew her will remember her warm smile. She was a friend to many and will never be forgotten. Surviving are her sister, Eileen Susenburger of Herkimer; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Donald and Janet Walsh of Flat Rock, N.C.; two nephews, Jack Susenburger of Herkimer and Patrick Walsh. A memorial service will be held on Friday at 4 p.m. in Fenner Funeral Home Inc., 115 Court St., Herkimer. The Rev. Mark Cunningham, pastor of St. Francis de Sales Church, Herkimer, will officiate. Committal service will be in St. Peter's Cemetery, Kingston, later this spring. Expressions of sympathy may be made with memorial donations to the Herkimer County Humane Society.
