Obituary

MOHAWK-Louis Frank Aloisio age 70 of State Route # 168 passed away unexpectedly on Monday evening January 29, 2007 in his home. He was born on September 30, 1936 in Mohawk, son of the late Frank L. and Josephine Munson Aloisio. A lifelong area resident he graduated from Herkimer High School with the class of 1954. Mr. Aloisio has resided in Mohawk since 1955 coming from Herkimer. On May 15, 2001 he was united in marriage with the former Janice Harter in Little Falls. For sixteen years he was a crane operator for Central Steel Construction Company in Sauquoit until his retirement in 1986. From 1974 to 1977, Lou had served as the Town of German Flatts Highway Superintendent . To all who knew him he was a strong willed man with an intense interest in heavy duty equipment, especially big trucks. To him it was his hobby as much as his livelihood. He enjoyed motorcycles and was a former member of the Erie Canal Chapter of the Harley Davidson Club of Utica. He was also a member of Local Union # 1241, Ilion Elks Lodge # 1444 and was a Mohawk Exempt Fireman. He was of the Catholic faith. Lou will always be remembered as a caring, down to earth man with an unforgettable smile. He was a friend to many and will never be forgotten. Surviving are his loving wife Janice, two sons, Mark and his wife Dawn Aloisio of Ilion, Steven Aloisio of Mohawk, one brother Francis and his wife Mary Ann Aloisio of Little Falls, a brother-in-law, Kenneth and his wife Danielle Harter of Lakewood , CA , four grandchildren, Alexander, Mark, Steven and Stephanie Aloisio along with several nieces, nephews and cousins. Besides his parents he was preceded in death by his twin brother Peter. Funeral service will be on Thursday at 7:00 pm in Fenner Funeral Home Inc., 115 Court Street Herkimer. Sister Mary Jo Tallman, Parish Life Director of Blessed Sacrament Church Mohawk will officiate. Interment will take place later this spring in Mohawk Cemetery . The family will be present in the funeral home to receive relatives and friends on Thursday from 4:00 until 7:00 pm. Expressions of sympathy may be made with memorial donations to the American Cancer Society, American Heart Association or the Herkimer County Humane Society. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
