Obituary

RICHFIELD SPRINGS - Louise Harriet Armstrong, 89, formerly of Chyle Road, passed away peacefully Friday morning, April 18, 2008, in Folts Homes, Herkimer.She was born July 8, 1918, in the town of Columbia, daughter of the late Glen and Lula Gyer McRorie. A lifelong area resident, she was a graduate of Richfield Springs High School and furthered her education at Hartwick College. On Feb. 5, 1944, she was united in marriage with Ward Perry Armstrong in the Epworth United Methodist Church, Matamoras, Pa. Theirs was a loving and devoted union of 57 years until Mr. Armstrong's passing in January of 2001. For 25 years, Mrs. Armstrong worked as secretary-bookkeeper for I. L. Richer Company, retiring in 1974. Mrs. Armstrong had a strong belief in God and was a member of the Jordanville Federated Church. She was active in the Grange where she was a member of the Richfield Springs Grange, Otsego County Pomona Grange the New York State and national Granges. She was also a member and past district director of the New York State Congress of Parents and Teachers. All who knew her remember a loving, caring and hopeful person who was happiest when she was surrounded by her many friends and family, especially her cherished grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She will be greatly missed. Surviving her are two sons and their wives, Glen and Marcia Armstrong of Jordanville and William and Barbara Armstrong of Newfield; three granddaughters, Diane Lauzun and her husband, Steven, of Lansing, Megan Clark and her husband, Kenneth, of Easton, Conn., and Karen Armstrong of Ithaca; five great-grandchildren, James, Audrey and Elena Lauzun of Lansing, and Kenneth and Sophie Clark of Easton, Conn. Funeral services and interment will be private and at the convenience of the family. Expressions of sympathy may be made with memorial donations to the charity of your choice. Funeral arrangements were made with J. Seaton McGrath Funeral Home, Richfield Springs.
