Obituary

HERKIMER - Louise Miles age 84 of North Prospect Street entered into eternal rest on Sunday morning February 15, 2004 in Valley Health Services Inc., Herkimer. She had the comfort of her loving family at her side. She was born on March 7, 1919 in Herkimer, daughter of the late Llewellyn D. and Mary Folts Palmer. A lifelong Herkimer resident she was a graduate of Herkimer High School. She furthered her education at the Claxton School of Nursing and Syracuse University, Oneonta where she received her degree in Nursing. On June 28, 1947 she married Frank E. Miles in Herkimer, a loving and devoted union of fifty-three years until his passing on November 10, 2001. At one time Mrs. Miles worked in the Maternity Ward of the Herkimer Memorial Hospital and for ten years as School Nurse for the Mohawk Public School System, retiring in 1976. Louise had a strong belief in God and was a member of the First United Church Herkimer. She was a member of Evening Star Valley Chapter # 82 Order of the Eastern Star and the Faxton Hospital Alumni Association. To all that knew her they will remember her warm smile and friendly manner. She will be greatly missed and never forgotten. Surviving are, one son Frank Palmer Miles and his wife Doris Baum of Seattle, WA, a sister, Charlotte Randall of Wells, a grandson, Alexander Miles of Seattle, WA, several nieces, nephews and cousins. Besides her parents and husband Frank she was preceded in death by a daughter Jean Louise Miles in 1992 and a brother, Theodore Palmer in 1974. A service for Mrs. Miles will be on Wednesday at 11:00 am in FENNER FUNERAL HOME Inc., 115 Court Street, Herkimer. The Reverend Wrightson Tongue, Pastor of the First United Methodist Church, Herkimer will officiate. Interment will be later this spring in Oak Hill Cemetery at a time to be announced. There are no calling hours. Expressions of sympathy may be made to First United Methodist Church, Herkimer Memorial Fund. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
