IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Lura A.
Camardello Of Herkimer
October 20, 1933 – December 10, 2024
HERKIMER – Lura A. Camardello, age 91, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, December 10, 2024, at the Alpine Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Little Falls. She had the comfort of knowing that her loving family was at her side.
She was born on October 20, 1933, in Salisbury, a daughter of the late William and Ethel (Henderson) Lyons. A lifelong area resident, she was a graduate of Dolgeville High School. On April 3, 1955, she was united in marriage to Alphonse J. Camardello. They shared a true love story of devotion, compassion, and kindness of 65 years until his passing on October 14, 2020. For many years she worked alongside her husband at Mr. C's Music and Record Shop in Herkimer. Lura had a strong faith in God and was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Herkimer, serving on many committees throughout the years. Her focus was her family. She felt God blessed her with a joyful family and truly embraced them with love and they in return knew the wonders of her love. Lura was fondly known for many sayings. The one most jokingly remembered after much silliness with family and friends was "Do you need a slap?" Lura will be sadly missed by those who knew her and loved her.
Surviving are her children, Todd William Camardello and his wife Laura Newport, Thomas Mitchell Camardello and Sue Carter of Cohoes, Mary Lynn Palmieri and her husband Rob of Herkimer, Lura Beth Camardello of Stratford, grandchildren, Sarah, Lisa, Shania, Portia, Stefanie, Kaleigh, Ashley, Makayla, Xavier, and Noah, and Great-grandchildren, Rockwell, Amar, Liliana and Evangeline, and Rose, several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Besides her parents and husband Al, a brother, Robert Lyons and two sisters, Shirley Jorrey and Barbara MacMillan predeceased her.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday, December 14th at 12:00 noon in Fenner Funeral home, 115 Court Street, Herkimer, with the Reverend Joelle Faulks, pastor of the First UMC Herkimer/Little Falls officiating. The family will be present at the funeral home on Saturday from 10:00 am until the time of the funeral at 12:00 noon to receive relatives and friends. Interment in Oak Hill Cemetery will take place next spring.
The family would like to thank the staff of Alpine Rehabilitation and Nursing Facility for the care, and kindness they had shown to Lura and themselves during her stay.
Memorial donations may be made to Amazing Gracie's Gift Foundation, c/o 5 Hillview Drive, Mohawk, NY 13407. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
