PORT CHARLOTTE-Lyle H. Neely age 92, formerly of Ilion passed away on Tuesday February 4, 2008 in Sandhill Gardens Retirement Home, Port Charlotte, FL. He was born on March 22, 1915 in the family home in Ilion, the only child of Harry David and Inez Chismore Neely. He was raised in Ilion and was a graduate of Ilion High School. Lyle lived in the family home until he retired and moved to Port Charlotte in 1978. On September 29, 1951 he was united in marriage to the former Florence Adams Loefler in the First Presbyterian Church, Ilion. A loving and devoted union of fifty-five years, she preceded him in death on June 20, 2007. Until their retirement he and his wife Florence owned and operated Js of Ilion. Mr. Neely was a member of the Pilgrim United Church of Christ, Port Charlotte, he held memberships in both Ilion and Port Charlotte Elks Lodges B.P.O.E., he was a member of Ilion-Olive Branch Lodge # 40 F.&A.M. and a 32nd degree Mason, Valley of Utica A.A.S.R.. To those who knew him they will always remember his friendly manner and caring way. He will be greatly missed. Surviving are his daughter, Carol and her husband Edwin Zutter of Punta Gorda, FL, four grandchildren, Steven and his wife Carolyn Zutter of Port Charlotte, FL, Sandra and her husband James Melo of Punta Gorda, FL, Robert Zutter of Ilion, Beth Anne Hartt of Port Charlotte, FL, four great-grandchildren, Kayla Jones, Steven Zutter Jr., Andrea Zutter, Jamie Melo, a niece Nancy and her husband Al Young of Ilion and a nephew, Gary and his wife Dianne Morrisette of Oswego. Besides his parents and wife Florencehe was predeceased by brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Albert and Evelyn Morrisette along with several aunts, uncles and cousins. A Memorial Service was held in the PilgrimChurch, Port Charlotte on Friday February 8th. Interment will take place later this spring in the family plot at Armory Hill Cemeteryat a time to be announced.
