RICHFIELD SPRINGS-Lyman C. Wing, age 84, of 690 West German Street, Herkimer, formerly of RD # 3, Richfield Springs passed away on Sunday morning November 11, 2001 in Valley Health Services Inc., Herkimer.
He was born on May 28, 1917, in Richfield Springs, son of the late Carl J. and Grace Baker Wing. A lifelong resident of Richfield Springs, he was a graduate of Richfield Springs High School "Class of 1935" and Morrisville Agricultural College "Class of 1937". Lyman's entire life was dairy farming. He owned and operated a dairy farm in Richfield Springs retiring in 1992. He was an active member of the Schuyler Lake Universalist Church where he served as church treasurer of over thirty-five years. He was a former member of the Richfield Grange, Dairylea, Farm Bureau, the Exeter Historical Society and the Schuyler Lake Cemetery Association. Lyman was a very generous man who always thought of others rather than himself.
Surviving him are his sister Dorothy and her husband Albert Ames of Richfield Springs,; two nieces, Susan Compton of Oneonta, Caroly Wilston of Mainesburg, PA and one nephew Charles Ames of Richfield Springs.
Besides his parents he was preceded in death by a sister Lucy F. Wing.
Funeral service will be on Wednesday at 2:00p.m. in the Schuyler Lake Universalist Church. The Reverend John Young pastor will officiate. Interment will follow in Schuyler Lake Cemetery. The family will be present in J. Seaton McGrath Funeral Home 40 West James Street, Richfield Springs on Tuesday evening from7:00 until 9:00 p.m.
