HERKIMER – M. Jean Mesick, age 86, of Rewick Avenue, passed away on Friday January 10, 2025 in Wynn Hospital, Utica.
She was born on September 27, 1938 in Herkimer a daughter to the late Melvin and Martha Bayer VanDelinder. She was raised and educated in Herkimer and a graduate of Herkimer High School. She furthered her education by obtaining an associate's degree from college. For many years she worked in the town office for the Town of Herkimer and part time for the Law Office of George F. Aney.
Jean was a member and Past Matron of Evening Star Valley Chapter No. 82 Order of Eastern Star and a member of Henderson Chapter of Daughters of the American Revolution. For many years Jean was the organist for the First United Methodist Church of Herkimer. Jean was truly a lover of music and was a very talented organist.
Surviving her are a son Michael Mesick and his wife Frances of Melbourne Beach, Florida, a daughter Dana Brown of Herkimer, a brother Lee VanDelinder of Seneca Falls, a grandson Christopher Mesick of Melbourne Beach, Florida, a granddaughter Hayley Brown of Clifton Park as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Besides her parents she was preceded in death by a brother Carl VanDelinder, three sisters Lois Wright, Martha Meszler, Carol Stack, and Betty Harter.
A funeral service for Jean will be held in the spring in Oak Hill Cemetery, Herkimer.
