ILION - Mabel Van Pelt, age 64, of Morgan Street, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday May 19, 2004, in her home.
She was born on April 26, 1940, in Canandaigua, a daughter of the late Harmer and Elsie Anderson. For a while she had worked in the home of Dr. Golden until her marriage to John Van Pelt Sr. on November 15, 1969. Mabel lived her life in the service of others. She truly enjoyed people and would extend a helping hand and caring heart. To all who knew her they will remember her smile, her wit, and compassionate manner. She was a trusting friend and will be missed by many especially her family. She enjoyed crossword puzzles, reading and picture puzzles, however she was happiest when she was with her family, whom she cherished dearly.
Surviving are a daughter, Laura Archer and her husband, Wayne of Ilion, tow sons, John Van Pelt, Jr. of Washington, DC, James Van Pelt and his wife Heather of Wilmington, NC, three grandchildren, Kimberly and Dylan Archer of Ilion, Hayleigh Van Pelt of Wilmington, NC, and many friends.
The family will be present in the Fenner Funeral Home, Inc., 115 Court Street, Herkimer to receive relatives and friends on Saturday from 4-5 p.m. A time for sharing will follow at 5:00 p.m. in the funeral home. Interment in Oak Hill Cemetery will be private and at the convenience of the family.
