Obituary

SPRINGFIELD CENTER-Madaline Ruth Skramko age 88, after a brief illness passed away peacefully with loved ones at her side. She was born on March 28, 1930 in Richfield Springs, daughter of the late Wesley and Colista Loomis Stickles. Madaline was raised in Richfield Springs and graduated from Richfield Springs High School with the class of 1948. On May 1, 1951 she was united in marriage to the love of her life John P. Skramko in Saint Marys Ukrainian Orthodox Church in Herkimer. They shared a loving and devoted union of forty-seven years until his passing on September 4, 1998. Much of their married life was spent with the military in Europe. She has resided in the town of Springfield since 1968. Mrs. Skramko was a life member of the Womens Auxiliary of the American Legion Post # 616, Richfield Springs and for twenty years the Treasurer of the Richfield Springs Veterans Club, Inc. Madaline loved seafood, following NASCAR and the visits from her cherished grandchildren and great grandchildren. She dedicated her life to her family and is survived by her son, John P. Skramko Jr. with his wife Donna and their children, Sean, Kyle and Lauren of Garden City, her two daughters, Cheri Skramko of Springfield with her children, Melissa, Michael and Ashley daughter, Lori Fox of Hartwick and her children, Amanda, Samantha and Martin. Madaline was also blessed with nine great grandchildren, Matthew, Auston, Aiden, Ryan, Alex, William, Maxwell, Emma and Onna along with numerous nieces and nephews. She also leaves three sisters, Barbara Ferguson and husband Donald, Donna Murdock all of Richfield Springs and sister Jean Treen and husband Fred of Ilion. Besides her parents and husband John she was preceded in death by a brother, Robert Hannahs and sister, Gertrude Dinger. Calling hours for Mrs. Skramko will be on Wednesday from 4:00 until 7:00 pm in J. Seaton McGrath Funeral Home, 40 West James Street; Richfield Springs. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday at 11:00 am in Saint Joseph the Worker RC Church, Richfield Springs with Father Silvaster Sarihaddula officiating. Interment in Springfield Center Cemetery will take place later this spring at a time to be announced. Expressions of sympathy may be made with memorial donations to the charity of your choice.
