Obituary

RICHFIELD SPRINGS - Madalyn Coger Hubiak, 76, of Woodside Avenue, entered into eternal rest on Friday morning, Aug. 1, 2003, in Bassett Healthcare, Cooperstown. She was born Oct. 10, 1926, in Pulaski, daughter of the late Romain and Katherine Bond Coger. Madalyn was raised in Utica and graduated from high school there. She came to Richfield Springs in 1943. On June 16, 1945, she married Walter Hubiak in Schuyler Lake, a loving union of of 55 years until Mr. Hubiak passed away on May 15, 2001. From 1939 until April of 1979, they owned and operated the Hubiak Dairy Farm on Chyle Road in the town of Springfield. Mrs. Hubiak had a strong belief in God and was a devoted Methodist. She was happiest when she was surrounded by her many friends and family, especially her two grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. She will be truly missed. Surviving are her two sons Walter T. and his wife Marjorie Hubiak and Ronald C. and his wife Diane Hubiak, all of Richfield Springs; three sisters Arline Wood of West Winfield, Marjorie Simonds of Schuyler Lake and Barbara and her husband John Marriott of West Winfield; two grandchildren, Chad Hubiak and Michelle Hubiak Hoag; five great-grandchildren, Elijah and Chayndell Hoke, Shailynne Hoag, all of Richfield Springs, and Michael and Lori Hubiak, along with their mother Antoinette Hubiak; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Besides her parents and husband, Walter, she was preceded in death by a grandson, Shannon Hubiak, and a sister, Thelma Sillman, At Madalyn's request there are no calling hours and her funeral is private. A graveside service will take place at a later time convenient to the family. Expressions of sympathy may be made with donations to the Bassett Healthcare Cardiac Unit Building Fund, 1 Atwell Road, Cooperstown, N.Y. 13326. Funeral arrangements are with J. Seaton McGrath Funeral Home, Richfield Springs.
