MOHAWK-Mae L. Tarbox age 89 of State Highway # 168 passed away peacefully on Sunday morning December 5, 2010 in Valley Health Services Inc. She had the comfort of her loving family at her side.
She was born on May 21, 1921 in Edmeston, daughter of the late William and Edna Mae Ward Rogers. Mae was raised in Edmeston and was a graduate of Edmeston High School. She was previously married to Thomas Ward and Donald Owen who both preceded her in death. On December 12, 2003 she was united in marriage with Ross K. Tarbox Sr. in Haines City, FL. They made their home in both Haines City and Brookfield, NY and until more recently in Mohawk.
Mrs. Tarbox was a member of the First Baptist Church Brookfield. In her leisure time she enjoyed crocheting and knitting. When in Florida she enjoyed the good times and sociability at the Shady Cove. To those who knew her, she will always be remembered for her warm personality and unforgettable smile. She will be greatly missed.
Surviving besides her husband Ross are three sons and their wives, Barton and Judy Owen of Brookfield, Donald and Patty Owen, Glen F. and Ruth Owen all of Oswego, one daughter Thelma Kabana and her husband Franklin of Brookfield, a brother, Walter Rogers of Sherburne, three sisters, Edna Tarbox and her husband Homer of Jordanville, Marie Taylor of Edmeston, Mildred Dixon of Unadilla, fifteen grandchildren, many great grandchildren, several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Besides her parents and husbands Thomas and Donald she was predeceased by her son Thomas Sonny Ward, two granddaughters, Samantha Wood and Holly Mae Kabana, and one grandson Donald Ward.
Funeral service will be on Wednesday at 11:00 am in Fenner Funeral home Inc., 115 Court Street; Herkimer. The Reverend Mark Thall, Pastor of the First Baptist Church, Brookfield will officiate. Interment in Brookfield Cemetery will take place at a later time convenient to the family. The family will be present in the funeral home to receive relatives and friends on Tuesday from 1:00 until 4:00 p.m.
