TARRYTOWN - Margaret R. Steciak, 60, of both Tarrytown and Ilion, entered into eternal rest Tuesday morning, Oct. 5, 2004, in Phelps Memorial Hospital in the town of Sleepy Hollow after a long illness.
The daughter of Martha Sokol Steciak, she was born July 1, 1944, in Little Falls. Margaret was raised in Little Falls and Ilion. She was a graduate of Ilion High School. She furthered her education, graduating from Syracuse University, Fordham University and Toledo University, earning a master's degree in Education. She first taught school in Utica, and for 25 years taught social studies in Pelham High School, Pelham, retiring in 2002. She was a member of the New York State Retired Teachers Association.Margaret will always be remembered as a loving, caring and hopeful person. She will be greatly missed, especially by her family.Surviving are her loving mother, Martha Steciak of Tarrytown and Ilion; a brother, John Richard Steciak Jr. of Salisbury; her aunt and uncle, Kay and Paul Sokol of Herkimer, and several cousins.Funeral from Fenner Funeral Home Inc., 115 Court St., Herkimer, will take place on Friday at 9 a.m. Services will follow in Saints Peter and Paul Orthodox Church, East Herkimer, at 9:30 a.m. The Very Rev. James Jadick will officiate. Interment will follow in Saints Peter and Paul Orthodox Cemetery.Friends and relatives may call at the funeral home on Thursday (today) from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Parastas will be Thursday evening at 8 p.m.Expressions of sympathy may be made with donations to the Saints Peter and Paul Orthodox Church.
