Obituary

HERKIMER - Margaret G. Wilber, 67, of Dayton Place, entered into eternal rest on Thursday, Feb. 3, 2005, in St. Elizabeth Hospital, Utica. She had the comfort of knowing her family was at her side. Born March 1, 1937, in the town of Ohio, she was the daughter of the late Leslie A. and Grace (Johnson) Briggs. A lifelong area resident, she attended West Canada School. For many years she had worked at the Middleville Tannery and then for MDS, retiring in 1979. On Dec. 14, 1979, she married Bruce Wilber in Chittenango. She had a strong belief in God and was a member of the Middleville Methodist Church. For many years she had played the organ during church services.Margaret's family was the center of her life; her strength and moral convictions were a guiding influence for them. She will be greatly missed. She was an avid reader, enjoyed crossword puzzles, knitting, doing picture puzzles and playing pitch.Surviving are her husband of 25 years, Bruce; four daughters and their husbands, Marlene and Thomas Malaglowicz of Schuyler, Donna and Charles Sangster of Herkimer, Dianne and Joseph Matuszak of Weedsport, Carolyn and William Youngblut of Herkimer; one brother, Marvin "Sonny" Briggs and his wife Diane of Ilion; a foster brother, Howard Jaquay of Denver, Colo.; nine grandchildren, Leslie Sangster, Thomas Malaglowicz Jr., Amy Malaglowicz, Andrew Joyce and his fiance Sherry Metott, Jennifer Weisser and her husband Fred, Marissa Joyce, Chad Sangster, Kari Roe, Michayla Matuszak, three step-grandchildren, Christopher, Jason and Heath Sangster, three great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Betty Brewer, in 1999.The family will be present in Fenner Funeral Home Inc., 115 Court St., Herkimer, to receive relatives and friends on Saturday from 4-6 p.m. The funeral service will follow at 6 p.m. in the funeral home.As an alternative to sending flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to the American Lung Association or the Alzheimer's Disease and Related Disorders. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.The family would like to express its gratitude to St. Elizabeth Hospital, especially to Dr. Kachare and all the staff on 3A Unit for the compassion and care shown to Margaret and her family during her trying illness.
