HERKIMER - Marguerite Anna Thompson, age 78, passed away peacefully on Saturday, February 6, 2021, at Bassett Medical Center, Cooperstown. She was born on July 2, 1942 in Herkimer, daughter of the late Merton and Marguerite Guyer. Marguerite was raised and educated in Mohawk. Her life was devoted to her children and grandchildren. She had a strong faith in God. In her leisure time she enjoyed knitting and crocheting. Her many friends reaped the benefits of her craft when they received knitted and crocheted gifts from her. She enjoyed playing games on her computer or an occasional trip to the casino. To those who knew her will never forget a kind, caring and generous lady. She will be truly missed by her friends and family especially her children, cherished grandchildren and great grandchildren. She is survived by two daughters, Kelly Grogan and her companion Robert Keeler III, of Herkimer, MariJo Thompson Rice and husband Harold (Butch) Jr. of Mohawk, two sons, William (Billy) Thompson of German Flatts, Shawn Thompson of Herkimer, ten grandchildren, Brandon, Bret, Gage, RaeAnna, Mackenzie, MiKayla, Brennen, Kendra, Adrianna, and Cameron, seven great grandchildren, sister Janet Wiegand and husband Gerry Sr., brother Loren Guyer and wife Sue, several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by her beloved son Cory Thompson, parents, Merton and Marguerite Guyer, six brothers,John, Donald, Merton, Kenneth, David, and Clarence Guyer, sister, Beatrice Herringshaw. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the Bassett Healthcare doctors, nurses, and staff for their excellent care throughout her illness. A very special thank you to her daughter, Kelly Grogan, for all her loving and devoted care throughout her mother's long illness. (We love you Kelly). Following her wishes, there will be no calling hours. A graveside funeral service for Mrs. Thompson will take place on Friday June 11th at 2:00pm in Mountain View Memorial Gardens, Town of Little Falls.
