Obituary

BURLINGTON FLATS-Marian Jean Martin age 80 passed away peacefully on Tuesday afternoon, April 28, 2020 in Bassett Medical Center, Cooperstown. Marian was born on July 20, 1939 in Columbia Center, daughter of the late Clayton E. and Grace Smith Skinner. She was raised in Columbia Center and educated in Richfield Springs Central School. On July 27, 1957 she was united in marriage to Robert A. Martin in the North Columbia United Methodist Church. Together they had seven children. In her leisure time she found much relaxation crocheting. She had a real ability for crocheting and one year had won first prize at the Herkimer County Fair and went on to win First Prize at the New York State Fair. To those who knew her will never forget, a wonderful, caring and warm lady that enjoyed doing for others. She was totally devoted to her family and was always there for them. She will be sadly missed. Surviving are her loving husband of 62 years Robert (Bob), two sons and their wives, Patrick Martin and wife Sandy, Bradley Martin and wife Christine, three daughters and their husbands, Marian Engells and husband Grant, Brenda Peterson and husband Artie, Ruth Simonette and husband Frank, eleven grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren. Besides her parents she was preceded in death by a son, Timothy Scott Martin and a daughter, Wendy Lee Martin. All services for Mrs. Martin were private and at the convenience of the family. Expressions of sympathy may be made with memorial donations to the charity of your choice. Funeral arrangements were made with J. Seaton McGrath Funeral Home, Richfield Springs.
