RICHFIELD SPRINGS - Marian (Jouben) Sarafin, 79, passed away on Friday, April 12, 2013. She was born on May 26, 1933 in Herkimer, a daughter of the late Paul and Mary (Kuzmak) Jouben. Marian attended Van Hornesville Central School and graduated in 1951.After graduation, Marian worked at the Allegro Shoe Factory in Little Falls. She married Martin Sarafin, Jr. on January 28, 1956, and together they had six children. They operated a dairy farm in Mohawk for 45 years.Marion was a devoted wife and mother.She enjoyed cooking, baking, collecting recipes, gardening and visiting her children and grandchildren. She is survived by her children,Sandra Sarafin of Yorkville, Marcia Rooney (Jeffrey ) of Chicago, IL, Mary Hight (Charles), of Mohawk, Elaine Parker (Kenneth) of Ilion, Thomas Sarafin of Norwich, Martin Sarafin III (Rachael) of St. Johns FL, six grandchildren, Nolan Hight, Sarah and Abigail Rooney, Alexis, Oliver and Samuel Sarafin. Calling hours will Monday from 6:30 until 8:30 at J. Seaton McGrath Funeral Home, 40 West James Street, Richfield Spring. A funeral mass will be celebrated on Tuesday April 16th at 10:30 am in St. Joseph the Worker Church, Richfield Springs.Interment will be private and at the convenience of the family.
