ILION-Marian Shepard age 79 of 99 Sixth Avenue, formerly of 215 Pullman Street, Herkimer, passed away on Wednesday morning February 9, 2011 in Faxton-St Lukes Medical Center, New Hartford. She was born on February 28, 1931 in Herkimer, daughter of the late Eugene Joseph and Ellen K. Rivenburg Bernier. A lifelong Herkimer resident, she was a graduate of Herkimer High School. On October 7, 1950 she was united in marriage with Harold H. Shepard in Christ Episcopal Church, Herkimer. They shared a loving union of thirty-eighty years until his passing on February 9, 1989. From 1960 to 1963, Mrs. Shepard worked as a legal secretary for the Snyder & Getman Law Office in Ilion. Marian was a member of Christ Episcopal Church, Herkimer. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. In her quiet time she enjoyed reading. In the last eight years while residing at Mohawk Valley Nursing Home in Ilion she found great pleasure in socializing with residents, going on the many trips that were available and playing bingo. To her many friends and family she will greatly missed. Surviving are one son Kevin Shepard of Herkimer, two daughters Jean Ellen McCord of Wallkill, Linda Shepard Snyder of Herkimer, a sister Eugenia Creedon of Stonington, CT, two cherished grandsons, Allan and Kevin Shepard both of Herkimer several nieces, nephews and cousins. Besides her parents and husband Harold she was preceded in death by a son Allan Shepard in 1984 and one brother Gary Bernier. At Marians request funeral service and interment are private and at the convenience of the family.
