HERKIMER-Marie E. Fagan age 103 of Park Place entered into eternal life on Wednesday morning August 13, 2003 in her home. She had the comfort of her loving family at her side.
The daughter of the late James and Frances Rafferty Stewart, she was born in New York City on November 24, 1899. Marie was raised in New York where she went to Sacred Heart School and graduated from Mount Saint Ursulas in New York.
On June 8, 1919 she married William P. Fagan in Sacred Heart Church, New York. They shared a loving and devoted union of thirty-two years until his passing in 1952. Mrs. Fagan with her daughter Helen has resided in Herkimer since September of 1998 coming from Menands.
She had a strong belief in God and was a member of Saint Francis deSales Church, Herkimer. Marie will always be remembered as a loving, caring and hopeful person who was happiest when surrounded by her friends and family, especially her grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren.
Surviving are her daughter Helen M. Fagan of Herkimer, a daughter-in-law Florence Fagan of Vero Beach, FL, a son-in-law Phillip D. ODonnell of Herkimer, five grandchildren, Ellen Nalley and her husband John of Danbury, CT, Phillip D. ODonnell Jr. and his wife Diane of Herkimer, William E. Fagan Jr. and his wife Constance of Downingtown, PA, Charles W. Fagan and his wife Anne, Carolyn L. Torchiana and her husband Gregory all of Wayne, PA, eighteen great grandchildren; Elizabeth, John IV, Patrick, Megan Caitlin, Bridget, Phillip D. III, William E. III, Casey Michael, Charles, Katie, Kiely, Benjamin, Gregory, Ashley, Emily, Matthew, two great great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents and husband William, a son; William E. Fagan in 1986, a daughter; Frances ODonnell in 2002, one brother; Edward Stewart, two sisters; Helen Dean and Frances Barry preceded her in death.
Funeral from Fenner Funeral Home Inc., 115 Court Street, Herkimer on Saturday at 8:30 am. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow in Saint Francis deSales Church, Herkimer at 9:00 am. The Reverend Mark Cunningham, Pastor will officiate. Mrs. Fagan will be laid to rest next to her husband in the family plot at Saint Agnes Cemetery in Menands. The family will be present to receive relatives and friends in the funeral home on Friday from 5:00 until 8:00 pm. Expressions of sympathy may be made to Saint Francis deSales Church, Herkimer. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
