SCHUYLER - Marie E. Van Pelt age 90 of Bush Road, passed away peacefully on Saturday evening in Valley Health Services Inc., Herkimer. She was born on December 26, 1911 in Utica daughter of the late Charles A. and Mary Joslin Roth. Marie was raised and educated in Utica. On July 25, 1930 she married Cecil Van Pelt in Norwich Corners, a loving union of fifty-nine years until his passing on December 6, 1989. Mrs. Van Pelt took pride in her home, she was happiest when she was surrounded by her friends and family especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She is survived by one son James and his wife Gladys Van Pelt of Schuyler; a daughter Rose Marie and her husband Clarence Caldwell of Utica; a daughter-in-law Frances Van Pelt of Schuyler, two brothers; Robert Roth of New Hartford, Laurence Roth of Clark Mills, three sisters Eileen and her husband Raymond Evans of Utica, Elizabeth Shaughnessy of Utica, Virginia Roth of New Hartford, seven grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, several nieces, nephews and cousins including a special cousin Florence "Toots" Reinhardt. Besides her parents and husband Cecil she was preceded in death by her son Robert in 1999 and a brother Kenneth. A graveside service will be held on Saturday April 13th at 10:00am in the East Schuyler Cemetery, The Rev. Jack Cogar will officiate.
