HERKIMER-Marion Elsie Becker, age 80, of McKennan Road, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday morning September 1, 2013 in her home. She was born on September 15, 1932, in Ilion, daughter of the late Peter and Elsie Livingston Gettle. A lifelong area resident she was raised in Ilion and was a graduate of Ilion High School. On October 6, 1950 she was united in marriage with Leon Becker in Saint Francis deSales Church, Herkimer. They have made their home in Herkimer since that time. Mrs. Becker had a strong faith in God and was a devout member of Saint Francis deSales Church, Herkimer. In her leisure time she found joy and relaxation in doing ceramics. She was especially fond of her home, the warmth, friendship and cherished times she shared with her husband and their many friends. She will be truly missed. Surviving are her devoted husband of sixty-two years, Leon several nieces and nephews, great nieces and great-nephews. Besides her parents she was preceded in death by her brother George Gettle, two brothers-in-law, Quentin Becker and his wife Janice, and Joseph Morse and wife Cynthia. Calling hours for Mrs. Becker will be on Wednesday from 4:00 until 7:00 pm in Fenner Funeral Home, Inc., 115 Court Street, Herkimer. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 am on Thursday in Saint Francis deSales Church, Herkimer. The Very Reverend Mark Cunningham, pastor will officiate. Interment in Oak Hill Cemetery will take place at a later time. Expressions of sympathy may be made with memorial donations to the Schuyler Volunteer Fire Department.
