RICHFIELD SPRINGS - Marion M. Galasso age 70 of McKoons Road, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday morning June 11, 2011 in her home.
She was born on August 22, 1940 in Brooklyn, daughter of the late Charles and Madelyn Mills Scheffler. Marion was raised in Ozone Park and was a graduate of John Adams High School with the class of 1958. On April 4, 1984 she was united in marriage with Anthony S. Galasso in the Presbyterian Chapel at John F. Kennedy International Airport in Queens, NY. They made their home in Holbrook, Long Island until 1991when they moved to Richfield Springs.
Mrs. Galasso was a member of Saint Joseph the Worker Catholic Church, Richfield Springs. In her leisure time she enjoyed reading, watching television and cooking. To those who knew Marion they will never forget a warm, caring and hopeful woman who had a special love for animals. She will be sadly missed.
Surviving her are her beloved husband of twenty-six years, Anthony, two daughters and their husbands, Renee and Willie Cantu, Fl, Denise and Thomas DiDio all of West Palm Beach Fl, one son, Anthony Galasso of Mastic Beach, Long Island, a brother, Charles and his wife Rosemary Scheffler and their family of Richfield Springs, nine cherished grandchildren, Kerri Martinez, Andrea DiDio, Thomas DiDio, Vito DiDio, Casey Cantu, Brandy Cantu, Amanda Cantu, Nicholas Cantu, Gage Galasso, six great grandchildren, Alex DiDio, Linda DiDio, Cecilia DiDio, Nathaniel Cantu and Layla McCarthur, several nieces, nephews and cousins. Besides her parents she was preceded in death by a sister Patricia Scheffler.
