East Herkimer- Marion Grubner, 87, passed away peacefully on Monday morning, June 27, 2022 in Faxton-St. Lukes Medical Center-New Hartford, with the comfort of the family by her side. One of eleven children, she was born on November 7, 1934. She is the daughter of the late John and Mary (Zawko) Lyga. On September 21, 1957, she married Paul F. Grubner in Christ Episcopal Church, Herkimer. They shared a loving union of 60 years until his passing on December 3, 2017. Marion (May), was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. Her grandchildren fondly remember the many days she spent with them enjoying the outdoors. Marion especially loved gardening, fishing with her family, and taking walks in the woods. Her love for the outdoors was passed on to her children and grandchildren, and they will forever cherish the knowledge that she shared. She was also a talented cook and enjoyed hosting her famous chicken barbecues for so many family and friends. Marion was a pillar in her family and will truly be missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her. She leaves behind her son, Paul J. and his wife Sharon of East Herkimer, Vicky Geswaldo and her husband Louis of LaFayette. Four grandchildren, Paul Grubner Jr., Cori Jweid, Louis and Nicholas Geswaldo, two great grandchildren, Elena Grubner and Leo Jweid. Two brothers, Joseph(Anne)Lyga, George(Elaine)Lyga, two sisters Susan (Peter) Sjaardema, Catherine Brelinsky, and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by three brothers Frank, John, and Anthony Lyga, and three sisters, Helen Brown, Anna Czernecki, and Julia Freeman. The family would like to extend their appreciation for the wonderful care that Marion received from the nurses and staff on the 6th floor at St. Lukes Hospital. And thank you to hospitalist, Dr. Noel, for her compassionate care. Funeral services for Mrs. Grubner will be private and at the convenience of the family.
