Obituary

HERKIMER-Marion Elizabeth Heinbockel age 83 of Pine Avenue passed away in her home on Sunday morning June 6, 2010 after an extended illness. She was born on December 18, 1926 in Tarrytown, NY, daughter of the late Curt and Elizabeth Klement Kruger. Marion was raised in Tarrytown and was a graduate of Washington Irving High School. She furthered her education, graduating from the Grasslands School of Nursing in Valhalla. with a Registered Nursing degree. On September 28, 1947 she was united in marriage with Christopher H. Heinbockel inTarrytown. For many years they made their home in Huntington Station, LI where she had worked in various hospitals and medical offices. She retired in 1985. In the year 2000 they came to Herkimer and have remained here since that time. Mrs. Heinbockel had a strong belief in God and was of the Lutheran faith. In her leisure time she enjoyed doing crafts, sewing, knitting, crocheting, quilting and traveling with her husband Chris. To her family; cherished are the memories of the warm cooking and baking aromas that came from her kitchen. A devoted wife, mother and grandmother she will be greatly missed. Surviving besides her husband of sixty-two years, Chris, are two sons and their wives, Christopher P. and Dorothy Heinbockel of Glen Rock, NJ, John and Leora Heinbockel of Greensboro, NC, one daughter, Susan Spofford and her husband Paul. of Little Falls, two sisters, Anneliese Frummet of Snellville, GA, Catherine Moris and her husband Robert of Escondido, CA, a brother-in-law, Edwin Heinbockel and his wife Ruth of Smithtown, NY, six grandchildren, Brian Spofford and his wife Jill, Laurie Spofford Pasqualino and her husband Vince all of Albany, Laura and Jennifer Heinbockel of Greensboro, NC, Ashley and Thomas Heinbockel of Glen Rock, NJ, along with several nieces and nephews. Funeral service and interment will be private and at the convenience of the family. Funeral arrangements are with Fenner Funeral Home Inc., Herkimer.
