EAST HERKIMER-Marion E. Legg Pinky age 82 of Main Road passed away on Saturday morning February 18, 2006 in Mohawk Valley Nursing Home.
She was born on March 24, 1923 in Herkimer, daughter of the late Chester A. and Helen Fenner Sturges. A lifelong area resident she was raised in Mohawk and was a graduate of Mohawk High School. On May 27, 1944 she married James H. Legg in the Herkimer Reformed Church.
At one time Marion was employed as a receptionist for Doctor Robert Dennis until 1968 when she went to work for the Vogue ladies clothing store on North Main Street Herkimer. There she was a window designer and sales clerk retiring in 1989.
She was a member of the First United Methodist Church Herkimer/Little Falls and their Womens Society of Christian Service. She was also a member of Evening Star Valley Chapter #82 Order of the Eastern Star and at one time served as Supervisor of Silver Triangle. Marion faithfully attended the Herkimer After Five Christian Womens Club.
Marion was a special personlovingcaringhopeful and enduring. She filled the lives of her friends and family with happiness and wonderful memories that will be carried in our hearts forever. She will be truly missed.
Surviving are her husband of sixty-one years James, two sons James. Legg of Wilmington, NC, Jerry and his wife Donna Legg of Scotia, a daughter Judy and her husband Bryan of Prattville, AL, one brother, Harry and his wife Marie Sturges of Ravena, a sister, Mildred and her husband Horace Stone of Ilion, a brother-in-law, James Robinson of Monroe, GA, nine grandchildren, Jim and Kim Legg of Brockport, Terre and Travis Dunning of Ilion Jeffrey and Barbara Legg of Phoenix AZ, Joy and Todd Bell of Middleburgh, Benjamin Legg and Joseph Legg both of Scotia, Brandon and Angela Mosher of Poquoson, VA, Brian Mosher and Jessica of Prattville, AL, Jennifer Mosher of Watseka, IL six great grandchildren, several nieces, nephews and cousins. Besides her parents a sister, Dorothy Robinson, and a grandson Jerry James Legg preceded her in death.
Funeral service will take place on Tuesday at 4:00 pm in Fenner Funeral Home Inc., 115 Court Street, Herkimer. The Reverend Wrightson Tongue, Pastor of the First United Methodist Church Herkimer/Little Falls will officiate. Interment will be later this spring in Mountain View Memorial Gardens, town of Little Falls. The family will be present in the funeral home to receive relatives and friends on Tuesday from 3:00 until 4:00 pm.
Members of Evening Star Valley Chapter #82 OES are asked to meet at the funeral on Tuesday at 3:45 pm for ritualistic services.
