HERKIMER-Marion C. Morse age 92 formerly of Charles Street, passed away peacefully on Monday April 26, 2021 at the Presbyterian Home, New Hartford. She was born on April 4, 1929 in Herkimer, daughter of the late Preston Charles and Ina Way Cray. A lifelong Herkimer resident she graduated from Herkimer High School with the class of 1946. She furthered her education graduating from the Utica School of Commerce in 1947. In 1962 she graduated from International Correspondence School. Marion was also a graduate of Herkimer County Community College with the class of 1977 and the Empire State College in 1981 with a degree in Business Administration and Economics. Through the years she had worked for the Herkimer Telegram, Remington-Rand and UNIVAC, Kelsey-Hayes Company, The Library Bureau, Inc. and from 1983 to 1988 for Mohawk Data Sciences, retiring as Computer Programmer Systems Analyst, MIS Manager. On June 25, 1949 she was united to Robert Henry Morse in Saint Francis deSales Rectory in Herkimer. They shared a loving and devoted union until his passing. Mrs. Morse had a strong sense of community at one time was a member of the Girl Scouts of America, a board member of the Foothills Council, Catholic Daughters of America-Court Halpin, UNIVAC Sperry Rand 25 year club, UNIVAC-Sperry Rand Management Club and the Kelsey-Hayes Management Club. In more recent years she was a member of the American Philatelic Society, Herkimer County Community College Alumnae Association, Utica School of Business Alumnae Association, a board member of the Mohawk Homestead, Meals on Wheels and AARP. To all who knew Marion found her to be a caring, intelligent and generous lady with an unforgettable smile. She will be sadly missed.
Mrs. Morse is survived by cousins, Susan Stukey of Herkimer, and Ronald Morse and several nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be held on Saturday at 10:00 am in Oak Hill Cemetery, Herkimer.
