Obituary

Herkimer - Marion R. Riesel, age 84, of 690 West German Street, formerly of Steuben Hill Road, Herkimer, passed away unexpectedly on Monday afternoon December 31, 2001 in Little Falls Hospital. She was born on August 10, 1917, in Lockport, daughter of the late Charles E. and Grace Carney Thompson. Marion was raised and educated in Lockport. She moved to Herkimer in 1935. On June 6, 1938 she married William E. Riesel in the family home in Herkimer. A blessed union of sixty-three years until his passing on August 6, 2001. From 1943 until 1963 she and her husband owned and operated their dairy farm on Steuben Hill Road. She was a member of the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witness in Herkimer. Surviving are a daughter, Joyce E. Riesel of Herkimer; a special niece, Shirley and her husband George Cerovsky, several grandnieces and grandnephews. Besides her parents and husband William, two sisters, Nellie Mae Rose and Winifred Ensminger preceded her in death. Funeral service will take place on Saturday at 11:00 AM in Fenner Funeral Home Inc., 115 Court Street, Herkimer. Elder Richard Tucker of the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witness will officiate. Interment in Oak Hill Cemetery will be next Spring. The family will receive relatives and friends in the funeral home on Saturday morning from 9:00 until 11:00 AM. Memorial donations may be made to the American Heart Association or the Valley Health Services Inc., Herkimer. Envelopes are available at the funeral
