HERKIMER-Marion Vienneau, age 92, of 104 North Washington Street, formerly of Westernville, passed away on Sunday evening, January 23, 2011, in Folts Home, Herkimer where she has resided since 2006.
She was born on September 9, 1918 in Edward, daughter of the late David B. and Mary Noble Harmon. She graduated from Normal School in 1939 and Potsdam SUNY in 1955.
On February 14, 1978 she was united in marriage Doran Vienneau. He preceded her in death on January 2, 1989.
For twenty-nine years she taught in rural schools in St Lawrence County, six years in Lewis County, five years in Lyons Falls and for eighteen years in Boonville.
She had a strong belief in God and was a member of the Westerville United Methodist Church, where she was church organist from 1979 to 1994 and also served as a Lay Speaker. From 1932 until 1943 she was a member of the Edwards Grange and was a lecturer from 1941-1942
Marion enjoyed traveling and collecting antiques which became more than a hobby. From 1972 until 1977 she was an antique dealer. Mrs. Vienneau was also a member AARP, the American Association of University Women, the United Methodist Women, New York State Retired Teachers, the American Federation of Teachers and was on the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee for both President Bill Clinton and Vice President Al Gore in 1996.
Surviving are a sister Helen Montcrieff of Pennfield, several nieces, nephews, cousins as well as grand and great-grand nieces, and nephews. Besides her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a brother Frank Harmon and a sister Frances Ruhde.
A funeral service will be held on Thursday at 10:00 am in the Wakeman Chapel of Folts Home, 104 North Washington Street, Herkimer. The Reverend Cathy Lee, Folts Homes Chaplain will officiate. Interment will be in Carmichael Hill Cemetery, town of Western later this spring. Calling hours in the chapel will be from 9:00 am until 10:00 am (one hour prior to the funeral service)
