Obituary

RICHFIELD SPRINGS _ Marjorie K. Buddle "Bubbles," age 94, formerly of Buddle Road, passed away on Saturday evening, June 4, 2011, at Otsego Manor, Cooperstown. She had the comfort of her loving family at her side.She was born on Nov. 10, 1916, in the town of Springfield, daughter of the late William W. and Martha Skinon Young. A lifelong area resident, she was a graduate of East Springfield High School.On July 11, 1936, she was united in marriage to Ralph Buddle in the Springfield Presbyterian Church. Together they shared a loving and devoted union for 45 years until his passing in 1981.For 14 years Marjorie worked as a Unit Clerk at Mary Imogene Bassett Hospital, Cooperstown, retiring in 1987.Mrs. Buddle led a devoted Christian life and was a member of the Springfield Presbyterian Church. She was also a member of the Springfield Alumni Association and Master Gardeners with Cooperative Extension. In her leisure she enjoyed chair caning, tatting, gardening and playing cards. She was a prolific pitch player and loved to play with anyone who thought they could beat her.To all who knew her she was a loving, caring and straight talking lady who was happiest when she was surrounded by her many friends and family especially her cherished grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. She will be truly missed.Surviving are a son, Robert and wife Genevieve Buddle, one daughter, Linda Putnam, all of Richfield Springs; a sister, Thelma Stocking of Niagara Falls; seven grandchildren, April, Marcia, Marlene, David, Mark, Faith and Russ; 10 great-grandchildren; 13 great-great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and many dear friends at Bronner Manor in Richfield Springs.Besides her parents and husband, Ralph, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Joan Cline; four brothers, William Young, Laverne Young, Leonard Young and Kenneth Young; and a sister, Laura Benjamin.Funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday in J. Seaton McGrath Funeral Home, 40 West James St., Richfield Springs. The Rev. Susan Birdsall, pastor of the Springfield Presbyterian Church will officiate. Interment will follow in Springfield Center Cemetery.The family will be present in the funeral home to receive relatives and friends from 6 until 8 p.m. Tuesday.Her family requests that expressions of sympathy be made with memorial donations to the Resident Activity Fund at Serenity Place at Otsego Manor. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
