Obituary

DOVER, Del. - Marjorie "Marge" Chidester, 83, passed away peacefully with the comfort of her family at her side on Friday, Feb. 7, 2003, in Genesis Eldercare - Silver Lake Center, Dover, Del. She was born May 7, 1919, in Little Falls, the daughter of the late Frank V. and Ann Weakly Ray. Raised and educated in the valley, she graduate from Herkimer High School. On Aug. 31, 1937, she married Russell W. Chidester in Fort Plain. They shared a loving and devoted union of 33 years until his passing Sept. 4, 1970. She had resided in Dover since 1958. For 25 years, she worked as a floral designer, retiring in 1983. As an Air Force military wife, she enjoyed traveling with her husband and was a member of the Gray Lady Red Cross and the NCO wives club. She was a member of the Peoples Church in Dover, Del. For many years, Mrs. Chidester was a Girl Scout leader and a member of Victory Chapter 15 Order of Eastern Star in Dover. Her hobbies included crafts, especially crocheting. Surviving are a son, David L. Chidester and his wife Paula of Camden, Del.; two daughters, Carol A. Bundschuh and Linda R. Chidester, both of Dover, Del.; two brothers, Richard Ray and Donald Ray of Ilion; one sister, Barbara Fineout of East Herkimer; nine grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren, six great-great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Funeral service will be Friday at 2 p.m. in Fenner Funeral Home Inc., 115 Court St., Herkimer. The Rev. Wrightson Tongue, pastor of the First United Methodist Church of Herkimer/Little Falls, will officiate. Mrs. Chidester will be laid to rest in Mountain View Memorial Gardens, town of Little Falls, later this spring. The family will be present in the funeral home to receive relatives and friends two hours prior to the funeral, noon until 2 p.m. As an expression of sympathy, memorial donations may be made to the Eastern Star Home of Oriskany.
