Obituary

EAST HERKIMER Marjorie H. Lowther, age 94, formerly of Main Road, passed away peacefully after a brief illness on Thursday morning, February 21, 2013 in Faxton- St. Lukes Medical Center, town of New Hartford. She was born on May 11, 1918 in Herkimer, daughter of the late Beecher and Elsie Krouse Hart. A lifelong Herkimer resident she was a graduate of Herkimer High School. She furthered her education graduating from The Excelsior School of Business in Utica. On December 2, 1939 she was united in marriage with Robert N. Lowther in Middletown. He shared a blessed and devoted union of thirty-eight years until his passing on July 13, 1977. For thirty-six years Mrs. Lowther worked in the Herkimer County Clerks Office. She retired in 1981 as Senior Accounting Clerk. Marjorie had a strong faith in God and was a lifelong member of Christ Episcopal Church in Herkimer. For many years she was a member of Saint Marys Guild and the church Altar Society. She was also a member of the East Herkimer Ladies Auxiliary Volunteer Fire Department, the Town of Herkimer Senior Citizens and the AARP. In her leisure time she enjoyed playing Pitch, Pinochle, Bridge and especially Go-Fish with her great grandchildren. To all who knew her they will never forget a sincere, caring and hopeful person. She found much satisfaction in doing for others while looking for nothing in return. She will be greatly missed by her many friends and family. Surviving her are two daughters, Roberta Pawlowich of East Herkimer, Patricia Baker and her husband Richard of Palmetto, FL, five grandchildren, Lisa Macri and her companion Douglas Comstock of Little Falls, Michele Treen and her husband Craig of Schuyler, Bonnie Keller and her husband Jeffrey of East Herkimer, Robert Baker and his wife Jolene of Cedarville, Brandon Baker and his wife Juanita of Little Rock AR, great-grandchildren, Tiffany and Jason Rando of the town of Ohio, Collin and Karli Treen of Schuyler, Courtney and Dan Macri of Little Falls, Douglas Marquissee of Ilion, Christopher and Carrie Marquissee of East Herkimer, Eric Keller of Troy, Holly Keller of Herkimer, Brandon and William Baker of Little Falls, Sheila, Robert and Nicole Baker of Cedarville, 3 great-great grandchildren, Kiarra Cisco of Herkimer, Emily and Anna Marquissee of East Herkimer, one brother, Donald Hart and his wife Patricia of Schenectady. Besides her parents and husband Robert, she was preceded in death by her son-inlaw Daniel Pawlowich, a grandson Allan Baker, a granddaughter, Julie Pawlowich, a great-granddaughter Jenna Marquissee, four brothers Henry, Robert Beecher and Ronald Hart, and a sister Ruth Miller. Calling hours for Mrs. Lowther will be on Sunday from 2:00 until 5:00 pm in Fenner Funeral Home, Inc. 115 Court Street; Herkimer. Funeral service with Holy Eucharist will take place on Monday at 11:00 am in Christ Episcopal Church, Herkimer. The Very Reverend Paul Bailey will officiate. Interment will be in Oak Hill Cemetery later this spring. Expressions of sympathy may be made with memorial donations Christ Episcopal Church or the East Herkimer Ladies Auxiliary Volunteer Fire Department. Envelopes will be provided at the funeral home.
