Obituary

HERKIMER-Marjory Alice Fredlund age 89, passed away peacefully in her home after a long illness. She had the support and comfort of her loving family and caregivers by her side. She was born on March 30, 1928 in Brooklyn, NY, daughter of the late Merwin and Margaret Ida Miller Jones. Marjory was raised in Garden City, LI and was a graduate of Sewanhaka High School. She furthered her education, graduating from Muskingum College, and then went on to attend Purdue University for graduate studies. On November 1, 1952 she was united in marriage to William A. Fredlund in Garden City, LI. They made their home in Massapequa Park, LI, before moving to Herkimer, in 1963. Marjory and Bill shared a loving and devoted union of 64 years, until his passing on March 12, 2017. Their unconditional love for each other was the foundation of our family life. Marjory was a person of unwavering faith in God. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Herkimer, serving as the Church Secretary from 1975 until 1989 Mrs. Fredlund was a past member of the Cogar Foundation, the American Association of University Women, Herkimer Garden Club, the Scandinavian Club of the Mohawk Valley, and the Embroidery Guild of the Mohawk Valley. She was very active volunteer in her church, serving in many capacities. Marjory will always be remembered for her caring, loving and helpful manner. Marjory derived decades of joy tending to her many flower gardens, she was also accomplished in the art of needle point. As an advocate for education, Marjory always encouraged her children and grandchildren to pursue their dreams through education Marjory, is survived by two daughters and their husbands Nancy and William Stack of Herkimer, Amy and Jerry Manning of Jordanville, two sons, Richard and his wife Pamela Fredlund of Kennesaw, GA, Carl Fredlund of Herkimer, one sister Elinor Frost, Gainesville, FL, one brother-in-law Harry M. Fredlund and his wife Joyce of Dix Hills, LI, eight grandchildren, Katie Fredlund, M.D. of Cary, NC, Kurt Fredlund and his wife Raman Kaler, of San Jose, CA, William Fredlund and his fiance Molly Wyse of Marietta, GA, Tyler and his wife Anna Fredlund of Atlanta, GA, Kirsten Fredlund of Atlanta, GA, Jason Stack, M.D. and his fiance Monica Roca, M.D. of Orlando, FL, Sara Manning and Stephen Manning of Jordanville, two great grandchildren, Vander Fredlund and Raiya Fredlund of San Jose, CA. Besides her parents and husband William, she was preceded by a brother, Robert Jones. The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks and gratitude to the devoted caregivers who provided loving care and comfort to Marjory during her long illness. They would also like to thank Hospice and Palliative Care, for the care and comfort they provided Marjory in her final weeks. Memorial service for Mrs. Fredlund will be on Saturday, February 24th, at 11:00 am in Trinity Lutheran Church, Herkimer, with Pastor Naomi Sorrwar-Randall officiating. Interment will be private. There are no calling hours. Remembrances may be made with memorial donations to Trinity Lutheran Church, 443 Henry St, Herkimer, NY 13350 or Hospice and Palliative Care, Inc, 4277 Middle Settlement Rd, New Hartford, NY 13413. Envelopes will be available at the church service. Funeral arrangements are with Fenner Funeral Home, Inc., Herkimer.
