ILION – Marlene Roberts, 88, passed away peacefully on Monday September 11, 2023, in Little Falls Hospital. She was born on February 1, 1935, daughter of the late Howard and Edna (Strobel) Whipple. She graduate Owen D. Young High School with the Class of 1953. Marlene was first married to Adam Guzik in 1956, he passed on October 23, 1964, then on January 26, 1974, she married John "Jack" Roberts in the Mohawk Reformed Church. They shared a devoted union of 33 years until his passing on May 29, 2007. Marlene faced many challenges throughout her life. She will be remembered as a great inspiration to her friends and family. She enjoyed life and nature. Be it feeding chipmunks', listening to the sounds of nature, or watching the beauty of a sunny day. She only saw the good in her surroundings and shared it with those she loved. Surviving are her children; Thomas Guzik and fiancé Kara of Indian Hills, CO, Kathleen Harris, Julie McDowell and husband Robert, Heidi Benson, and husband James all of Ilion, Joy Roberts of Herkimer, John Roberts and his fiancé Juanita of Herkimer, 18 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren, a son-in-law Randy McCaw, and daughter-in-law, Bernadette, nephews; James Gray, Stephen Gray and his wife Lori and Michael Gray. Besides her parents and husbands she was predeceased by a son Richard, a daughter Cindy and a sister Doreen Gray. Funeral service and interment will be private and at the convenience of the family.
