HERKIMER-Mary Ann Cristiano age 78 passed away unexpectedly on Sunday March 6, 2016 in San Juan, Puerto Rico while on vacation. She continued her education at Oswego State Teachers College where she received her Bachelors Degree in teaching. Mary Ann started out as a first grade school teacher in Ilion. On July 2, 1960 she was united in marriage with Vittorio Dick Cristiano in Saint Francis deSales Church, Herkimer. They made their home in Herkimer and in the early 1970s she owned and operated the General Store on Caroline Street in Herkimer. Mrs. Cristiano was a member of Saints Anthony and Joseph Church in Herkimer. She at one time served with her husband on the Herkimer Zoning Board of Appeals. In her leisure time she enjoyed playing the piano, organ, taking trips, going on cruises and spending time with her grandchildren. To those who knew her she was a caring, strong willed, selfless and generous lady. She was always there to do for others while looking for nothing in return. She will be sadly missed by her many friends and family, especially her cherished grandchildren.
