Obituary

EAST HERKIMER-Mary A. DeGouff age 72 of Shells Bush Road entered into eternal rest on Sunday afternoon August 21, 2005 in Valley Health Services Inc., Herkimer. She was born on November 18, 1932 in Hartwick, daughter of the late Joseph and Mary Zupevec Finkst. A lifelong area resident, she was a graduate of Little Falls High School. On March 28, 1953 she was united in marriage with Francis T. DeGouff in Saint Marys Church, Little Falls. A loving and devoted union of fifty years until he preceded her in death on July 8, 2003. Mrs. DeGouff had worked as a bookkeeper for Herkimer Petroleum Products, Castle Ford and for thirteen years at US Materials and Handling in Schuyler retiring in 1998. She had a strong belief in God and was a member of St Francis deSales Church, Herkimer. First and foremost was Marys love for her home and family. She enjoyed gardening and took great pride in the outside of her home. Her family will never forget the wonderful meals she cooked or the delicious aroma of her baking. To her family she had a strength that they could lean on whenever they were troubled and could count on her being there in good times or bad. She will be deeply missed. Surviving are two sons, Daniel DeGouff of Ilion, Phillip DeGouff and his companion Kathy Connor of Herkimer, four grandchildren, Steven and his wife Cassandra DeGouff of Ilion, Michael, Jason and Colleen DeGouff all of Cortland, one brother Joseph Finkst of Little Falls, several brother-in-laws including Phillip and his wife Diane DeGouff of Troutman, NC, a longtime dear friend Nadine Bolen of Florida, several nieces, nephews and cousins. Besides her parents and husband Francis she was predeceased by her son Donald DeGouff in 1978 and her daughter-in-law Debra DeGouff this past year. Funeral service will take place on Wednesday at 11:00 am in Fenner Funeral Home Inc., 115 Court Street, Herkimer. The Reverend Mark Cunningham, Pastor of Saint Francis deSales Church Herkimer will officiate. Committal will follow in Mountain View Memorial Gardens, Town of Little Falls. There are no calling hours. Expressions of sympathy may be made to the American Cancer Society. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
